COLLEZIONE LEHMANN

After seeing an exhibition on means of transportation in Berlin, Ernst Paul Lehmann designed the “The anxious bride". It shows the anxious young bride Nanni during her first ride on a motorcycle, something that was absolutely new to her. As she sits in the back of a three-wheel motorcycle, Nanni shakes clumbsily each time the driver pedals, going up and down in her seat as she tries to get off, waving her arms. Two versions of the toy were available. They differed for the bride's dress: in this piece on display she is elegantly dressed in red with a fur around her neck and a feather in her hat. One of Lehmann's sisters was nicknamed Nanni and her upcoming wedding may have inspired him for this toy in 1901.
