Carved wood horse typical of Sweden. It is known as Dala horse (Swedish: Dalahäst) and takes its name from the region of origin called Dalarna, place where they are manufactured. The decoration of the Dala horse has its roots in the painting of furniture and was perfected over the years. Traditionally a Dala horse is painted in bright red, with the details and harnesses in black, green, yellow and blue.
